Disasters such as the magnitude-9 Great East Japan Earthquake occur periodically. We considered this experience while developing measures against a predicted earthquake in Nankai Trough. This report includes summary of 10 disastrous infectious diseases for which countermeasures seminar was held. Thirty-five speakers from twenty-one organizations performed lectures. Besides diseases, conference topics also included disaster prevention and mitigation methods. In addition, development point-of-care tests, biomarkers diagnosis, severity assessments were introduced, along with epidemics affected by climate. Of 28 pathogens that became hot topic, 17 are viruses, 14 out these (82%) RNA viruses. seminars, last 2 targeted only COVID-19. It emphasized COVID-19 is not just disaster-related infection but itself. The first on provided immunological epidemiological knowledge commentary clinical practices. During second seminar, vaccine development, virological characteristics, treatment respiratory failure, biomarkers, human genetic susceptibility discussed. Conducting continuous seminars important general controls.
